This has been a slightly exciting moment for me. Thank you KGSR for playing her new song today and leading me to such enlightenment.
I remember riding in the car down North Lamar between 24th and 29th Streets (you know, that wind-y part along Shoal Creek and Pease Park) with my dad listening to Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians when I was 8 or 9. Shooting Rubber Bands at the Stars was the album. When I started college I borrowed a bunch of tapes from our family collection to listen to in the car while I drove 35 miles each way, each day. Edie was one of them. It was actually a far cry from my musical interests at the time (ska punk, alternative rock) but the music was so good and was such a trip back in time. Just check it out. Its delightfully late 80's. Its so easy to sing to....as far as car singing goes. :)
So I just heard the new single today off the new self-titled 2011 album, Give It Another Day. (no Bohemians this time) Its almost too happy sounding for my liking, but I've already downloaded it. I'm a collector. I've got to hear it all. And the new album art has a Weiner on it.
I'm also downloading the Gaddabouts album for fun. Yey! New music for the car!
